Why does ‘Keeping the Piece’ display Scripture verses at the bottom of most pages?

Where do ‘Keeping the Piece’ classes take place?

Keeping the Piece Women’s Firearms Training Courses are held at the Keeping the Piece Classroom located in the Rockwell Building (5555 Rockwell Road in Winchester, KY 40391). All live fire exercises take place at Shooter’s Alley (4115 Lexington Road in Paris, KY 40361).

Are all ‘Keeping the Piece’ Classes for women only?

Keeping the Piece now offers “private” Concealed Carry Classes, with the option to open them to the public in order to meet the 8 person minimum requirement . The classes put together by students may be ladies only, or co-Ed, but not male only.  

How much does it cost to take a ‘Keeping the Piece’ CCDW Class?

In order to reserve a date for a private Concealed Carry Course, $680 must be pre-paid. This amount covers instruction, text book, target, and range fees plus a pizza & bottled water/soda lunch for 8 people. $85/each additional person may be paid on the date of class.

What happens if someone in my group can’t make it to class?

The person scheduling the class (hereafter referred to as Class Organizer) is responsible for making sure at least 8 people show up the day of class. So, if someone cancels, it the Class Organizer’s responsibility to find a replacement. If no replacement is found, then you will forfeit the $85 for that person. There will be no refund.

What if I need to reschedule?

If someone in your group develops a conflict with the scheduled date, the Class Organizer must take responsibility for finding a replacement.  Please keep in mind that I make special arrangements for my family in order to commit to your class date.  I need the same level of commitment from students.

Do you ever give refunds?

The only reason I refund money is if I personally do something to interfere with the class being completed. For example, I have a car accident on the way there and the automobile is undriveable, or I have a death in my immediate family, God forbid. I take my commitment to your class seriously, in other words. So, I appreciate if you and your classmates do the same.

What exactly is covered by the ccdw class fee?

This fee includes the money which must be paid to the KY Department of Criminal Justice, classroom rental, range rental, and targets. Lunch is provided (pizza and bottled water) Also there is built-in compensation for the instructor, which she uses to: cover her time spent in classroom providing training as well as her preparation for class and paperwork which must be completed both before and after class. Also, costs are offset for printing fees, postage for mailing documents to KY Department of Criminal Justice, advertisement, website maintenance, and travel costs.

What will I need to bring to a ‘Keeping the Piece’ CCDW Class?

You will need to bring your pistol, 20 rounds of factory-loaded ammunition, cleaning kit, owner’s manual if you have it, pen/pencil, hearing and eye protection.

How old must I be to attend a ‘Keeping the Piece’ CCDW Class?

In the state of KY, you must be 21 years old to qualify for a CCDW License. You are not permitted to take the class until you reach this required age.

How do I register for a ‘Keeping the Piece’ Women’s CCDW Class?

First, the Class Organizer must call to reserve a date. Next, the Class Organizer will collect the $85 from each participant, and send funds in the amount of $680 (which covers 8 people) via check or money order to:

What does ‘CCDW’ mean?

‘CCDW’ is an acronym which stands for ‘Carry Concealed Deadly Weapons’, commonly referred to as any of the following: CCW, Concealed Carry Permit, Concealed Carry License, Concealed Weapon License, Gun Permit, Gun License, Concealed Carry License.

Do I have to have a ‘CCDW’ permit to carry a pistol openly in the state of KY?

No. In the state of KY, you may exercise your constitutional right to carry a pistol openly on   your body without a permit. If there is any risk of a shirt, jacket, or any other garment covering your pistol, you will need to have a CCDW Permit.

What are some of the other deadly weapons covered by the CCDW Permit in the state of Kentucky? (Answer from Kentucky State Police Website)

Any weapon from which a shot, readily capable of producing death or serious physical injury, may be discharged

Any knife other than an ordinary pocket knife or hunting knife

Billy, nightstick, or club, blackjack or slapjack, shuriken or death star, nunchuck karate sticks, artificial knuckles made from plastic or other similar hard material

What are some other names for the CCDW Permit?

Some other common names used to describe or refer to a CCDW Permit are the following: Gun License, Gun Permit, CCW License, CCW Permit, Concealed Carry License, Concealed Carry Permit
